Today is the first day I ever touched a trumpet. I was excited when I got the medici pocket trumpet by mail today, only to find out no matter how hard I blow air into the mouthpiece.. no sound comes out. (just air comes out of the horn).
I did the slingshot, mouthpiece, but as soon as I put in the lead pipe (trumpet) it just blows air through the trumpet. I still don't understand how you get the sound by following your video. You make it look easy but it's not.
The only way I can get any sound is by buzzing my lips as taught by other videos on youtube. but I totally agree, I don't want to buzz my lips.

DON'T PANIC!!!
It takes time. Say aaaaahh oooohh heaps and heaps and just keep working on it! It's your first day so don't have HUGE expectations.
IT WILL HAPPEN!
Watch the leadpipe video and notice how I say at the start you might get no sound. That is completely fine.
You said no matter "HOW HARD I BLOW..."; that is half the problem. No doubt you are trying to force too much air through the instrument. What you will learn to do is draw the aperture corners in from the sides, rather than pinching down your tip lip.
Keep working on it and just "observe" how things change, don't fall victim to your instinct by pushing and pinching! Let me know how you are going in a couple of days. Good luck and enjoy yourself.
